DSL service provides up to a full 1.1 Megabits/second
of simultaneous upload and download bandwidth to ACS' network. From there, your
traffic to and from the Internet will use the most efficient route possible via
our multiple redundant connections to the Internet backbone. While DSL is not
as reliable as T1, its relatively low price point has made high bandwidth Internet
access a possibility for businesses and individuals for whom it would not be possible
otherwise.
Remote DSL service is best employed when your location is outside
the coverage area of ACS' San Francisco point of presence (POP). Remote
DSL is available in selected locations throughout the United States. If other
providers have told you that DSL isn't available for your business because you're
too far from the phone company's central office, give us a call; our 144 Kb/s
IDSL is able to reach some areas that other providers can't. Also, while DSL offerings
from other providers may give you fast download speeds, the upload speeds may
be restricted to very low rates. ACS' Remote DSL provides the same data
rate in both directions. If you e-mail large files to people this can make a significant
difference.
